Very Vichy, very limited edition

3, 2, 1... Here we go, we've decided: we're switching to daylight saving time. ☀️

Proof of that is our new limited edition, with its pastel and vibrant gingham pattern. From the perfect little pouch to the ever-practical backpack, your future vacation essentials are here. As for the material? Made from bamboo fibers, the collection is impressively soft.

Use them during your holidays, but also throughout the rest of the year.

The Vichy :International Origins

Did you think this bold creation was intimately linked to the city of Vichy? Forget about Napoleon III and his stay in the town, because the story of vichy unfolds far beyond French borders, like a textile epic.

Across the English Channel, it is known as "gingham," a word borrowed from Malay, "genggang," meaning "striped." It is said that this fabric traveled from distant Indonesian lands as early as the 17th century. Some adventurers from the past even claim that the term "gingham" is actually an English version of Guingamp, where gingham is said to have been woven since the Middle Ages.

But that's not all! Explore Asia and discover the many faces of vichy. In India and Bangladesh, it transforms into "gamucha," a loyal companion used as a towel. In Cambodia, the "krama" unfolds with elegance, a traditional gingham scarf, a true emblem of the country.

A Timeless Print

As early as the 1950s, renowned fashion designers like Christian Dior contributed to its global popularity through collections featuring sophisticated skirts, dresses, and tailored ensembles. It has remained a popular choice for summer clothing, adding a touch of freshness and cheerfulness to outfits.

However, it was when Brigitte Bardot posed in a pink and white gingham dress for the cover of Elle magazine in 1953 that the print truly soared to success. Six years later, she got married in a vichy dress designed by couturier Jacques Esterel.

Pou-pou-pi-dou. Cabaïa invites you to the most pop summer.

Very Vichy, Very Durable 🎋

Of course, style matters... but never at the expense of the planet. Because our goal is to create the most sustainable products possible, we have chosen to develop the Vichy collection using bamboo fibers. It's a natural material that grows without the need for pesticides. Anyone who has had bamboo in their garden knows how rapidly this plant grows, even without water. Naturally green and fully environmentally friendly due to its organic cultivation, this fiber is super soft, lightweight, durable, and highly absorbent. It's a great conversation starter for your barbecue anecdotes.

Adventurer backpacks, crossbody bags, and toiletry pouches...You can start a collection, mix and match the vichy colors, and become the most stylish person of the summer.
